How to Use Internet Marketing Methods to Build a Network Marketing Business

Current statistics estimate that over 2 million people are involved in Network Marketing, yet few of them are making any real money. As a matter of fact, many of these distributors cannot make more than $200 per month. Some of these people wonder aloud why they cannot succeed like those marketers who boast of making $10,000 or more per month.

The answer is simple, really. The only way to make your network marketing business grow and develop the residual income you desire is through marketing. That’s the marketing in network marketing. This revelation comes as a shock to many people, who don’t normally associate network marketing and advertising. After all, isn’t network marketing an alternative to advertising?

True, you will be distributing products and recruiting others through word of mouth, but you must get the word out about your business. You will very quickly exhaust your “warm leads” of family and friends, and if this is all that you rely on for your downline, you will be stuck in a rut in no time.

As stated, the Internet offers an excellent way to begin and promote your Network Marketing business. You can put a web site up in a manner of days to explain your business, but the most important thing after putting it up is getting visitors--”traffic”--to come flooding to your web site.

One simple, low cost method will enable you to promote your web site and Network Marketing business on the Internet. This method can be easily implemented and while it will not generate instant success, it will help you establish yourself as an authority in the line of products you are selling. As an established authority, you will have credibility, and this is the first key in getting people to sign up under you.

The best way to establish credibility is to begin scouring the Internet newsgroups that address the problem which your product solves, and start posting messages to these groups. For example, let’s say that your product is herbal supplements. Find a newsgroup--or several newsgroups--on the subject of herbal supplements, alternative medicine, etc. Read what other people are commenting in these newsgroups and begin posting your own advice, solutions and know-how. Be very careful, however. Your intention in the newsgroups is not to directly sell your products or business. Many newsgroup moderators frown on any attempt at direct sales. Rather, you want to establish your authority by, from time to time, offering advice and suggestions on the topic at hand.

How will you benefit if you don’t directly offer sales pitches? It’s very simple. Create a signature file that appends to the end of your messages. This signature file can be thought of as a business card. It has your name, title, web site and, if you wish, a provocative quote of some sort about your business. People who view your messages will see your signature file and if they are curious, will visit your web site. This is a “soft sell” approach, but very useful on the Internet, and will quickly help you establish yourself as an authority in your field.
